Courts services sends magistrates' details to prison print plant

Her Majesty's Courts Services (HMCS) has been embarrased after a yearbook for magistrates was sent for printing at an in-house prison print site.

The directory, which contained names and phone numbers of Norfolk-based magistrates, was sent to the in-house printing facility at HMP Standford Hill in Kent, a Category D prison. Proofs and files were sent for printing at the beginning of January, but the mistake has only just come to light.

HMCS's area director has written to all magistrates to say he is "desperately sorry", the BBC claimed this morning.
