Car in death crash was travelling over 70 mph
A car crash which killed a North Yorkshire schoolgirl was “racing” with another driver when the tragedy happened.
Natalia Wiley, 15, was killed when the car being driven by her boyfriend Robert Turnbull, 18, crashed on the A170 between Pickering and Scarborough, in January.
Turnbull, who has admitted causing the death of his girlfriend, was racing with, 21-year-old Daniel Jeminson of Kirkbymoorside, Jeminson denies causing death through dangerous driving.
In the second day of his trial at York Crown Court, witnesses describe the car as travelling like a bat out of hell.
The jury heard from expert witness David Foster, a crash investigation specialist with North Yorkshire Police, who estimated the speed of Turnbull’s Corsa to have been 70mph to 80mph when the driver lost control. The case continues.
